Zusammenfassung:This study identified several characteristics of effective journalism advisory boards. Its results suggest that board membership should be balanced and that faculty support and participation is preferable. What's more, board members need not be compensated, but a token of recognition for their participation is necessary. Also, boards should not be involved in departmental personnel issues. Successful boards recommended that members be knowledgeable and active in their profession. Finally, board role expectations must be clear, and boards must have sufficient information about the program to make sound decisions.
