Zusammenfassung:Transvenous endomyocardial biopsy was performed in seven patients who had angina pectoris in the presence of normal coronary and left ventricular angiograms, and normal pulmonary wedge and left-ventricular end-diastolic pressures. In each case rapid atrial pacing produced typical angina which was accompanied by abnormal myocardial lactate production. The only abnormal histological finding was attenuation of hypertrophied myocardial fibres. No evidence of significant disease of small vessels was found.
