Zusammenfassung:In light of the current appetite for early Christianity in popular discourse, this paper examines the rise of Christianity within the transformative context of late-Roman religious culture. Rather than viewing Christianity as an isolated and unique catalyst for religious change, this paper reminds readers that early Christianity was in fact part of a much broader process that saw a steady increase in the influence of eastern religious cultures throughout the later Empire.
