Zusammenfassung:A study with 6-inch-long aspen strands and mill fines material showed that increasing fines content, when evenly distributed through the product thickness, reduces the bending strength properties of oriented strand products in a linear relationship between the 100 percent strands and the 100 percent fines products. Face modulus of elasticity (MOE), relative to the edge MOE, increased in proportion to the average surface compression. The increase in face modulus of rupture was about half that found for MOE. Preliminary work indicated that the face strength properties could be increased by placing all the fines material in the core layer.
