Socially relevant science curricula continues to be a critical goal, as science teachers prepare students to make decisions about the questions of today. On the one hand, science teachers value courses providing rigorous preparation for college graduation and possible careers in scientific fields. On the other hand, they also value courses preparing people for life--whether or not they go on to further formal education.
