Judah under Assyrian Hegemony: A Reexamination of Imperialism and Religion
Assyrian imperial policy regarding cult and religion is examined. The view of a monolithic Assyrian imperialism holding sway and enforcing its rule in all areas of the Near East is undocumented; there is not the slightest hint anywhere that the adoption of foreign ways was imposed.
