Cancer pain control in the setting of substance use: establishing goals of care

Whether or not to treat substance-use disorders when the patient also has advanced malignancy has certainly, in itself, been a question of debate. Some have questioned the benefit of treatment, saying that substance use is one of the few remaining pleasures for the patient.
