Zusammenfassung: | An abstract of a study by Fitzsimmons et al recommending 2mg intravenous Vitamin K on patients undergoing a hip fracture surgery is presented. They conclude that introduction of guidelines significantly reduced time from admission to surgery within this group. This reduction was not accompanied by an increase in thrombotic complications. Reversal of therapeutic anticoagulation with a single 2mg dose of Vitamin K allowed surgery within 48hrs. |
