Zusammenfassung: | In the history of modern industrial research, eras of major scientific advance in new technological domains alternate with eras devoted largely to the harvesting, extension and application of those advances to an ever-widening range of products and industries. Over time, however, the duration of these phases has grown shorter, the boundary line between them less distinct and the cycle of alternation more rapid. It is noted that leaders of technological innovation must stay alert to the downstream consequences of choice, alert to the comprehensiveness of value-added and be involved in shaping the ongoing conversation about strategy. |
