Zusammenfassung: | In a panel discussion of American Society of International Law members conducted in April 1993, the following topics were explored: 1. To what extent can or should developing East Asian countries form a regional economic bloc without direct participation by North Americans or developed countries in East Asia? 2. What role can the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation initiative realistically expect to play? 3. Can an effective legal order be forged in the Western Pacific before the role of the Chinas in the world community is clarified? The panel was convened on April 2, 1993, by its Chair, Charlotte Ku, Deputy Executive Director of The American Society of International Law, who introduced the panelists. |
