Zusammenfassung: | Democratization, economic changes and supranationality as related to Latin America are discussed. Although Latin America has much to be proud of from the past decade of economic growth, political and social stability, and resolution of boundary disputes, there is need for reform. Target areas for legal reforms include: 1. unnecessary economic regulations, 2. antiquated land ownership and registration laws, 3. laws designed to control the populace, 4. laws rubber-stamped by the legislative branch, and 5. ineffective enforcement of debt collection. A discussion is presented of the ways in which the Inter-American Development Bank is dealing with the effect of economic changes and democratization on women in Latin America. |
