Establishment of the correct diagnosis is of paramount importance because application of treatment for simple hepatic cyst, including partial excision or fenestration, results is an unacceptably high rate of recurrence.4 The most successful form of therapy for HCDs is complete resection, because it avoids the risks of recurrence and malignant transformation and provides the potential for cure of cystadenocarcinomas.
