"HARD TIMES" AND THE STRUCTURE OF INDUSTRIALISM: THE NOVEL AS FACTORY
Charles Dickens' "Hard Times" is the symbolic expression of Dickens' critique of interlocking structures of industrial capitalism. It is suggested that "Hard Times" is much more coherent as a representation of industrialism than has been realized.
