Effects of iron treatment on cognitive performance and working memory in non-anaemic, iron-deficient girls

Explores the relationship between iron status and cognitive performance, especially with respect to working memory. Performs a randomised, double-blind intervention study in which 116 adolescent girls with iron deficiency in the absence of anaemia were allocated to iron treatment or a placebo control group. Assesses cognitive performance and haematological indices of iron status before and after an 8-week treatment period. Administers 4 cognitive tests.
