Developing risk management treatments for taro from the Pacific Islands

Summarises results of trials to determine: (1) what pests are found on taro imported from the Pacific and where they occur (surface or below surface); (2) what the heating profiles of taro are; (3) the most tolerant life stages of taro mite and root knot nematode to hot water treatment; and (4) the efficacy of high-pressure washing, high-pressure washing and a combination treatment against pests on taro.
