The mechanism of aqueous hydrolysis of nitro derivatives of phenyl phenylmethanesulfonate

The laboratory portion of the first organic course illustrates important chemical principles discussed in lecture, and it also teaches fundamental laboratory techniques practiced in organic chemistry. Recently, there has been an emphasis on discovery-based experiments, in which questions are posed which require students to carefully interpret their experimental data.
