Zusammenfassung:With a view to finding out the antimicrobial activity of nanoparticle against E. coli, the author prepared chitosan nanoparticles (nCHS), modified form using aloe vera (m‐nCHS), hybrid nanoparticles with silver (h‐nCHS) and modified, hybrid form (m,h‐nCHS). The shape and uniformity of the nanoparticles are assessed by transmission electron microscopy and all the nanoparticles are found to be in the nanometer range. The physiochemical properties of the nanoparticles are determined by UV‐Visible spectroscopy, zeta potential analysis, dynamic light scattering measurements, and fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis. UV – visible analysis confirms the formation of chitosan nanoparticles and hybrid Ag – chitosan nanoparticles. The stability and size of the nanoparticles are further confirmed by zeta potential and dynamic light scattering measurements. The antibacterial activity of nanoparticle against Escherichia coli (E. coli) is evaluated by calculation of minimum inhibitory concentration. The results showed that antimicrobial activity is significantly enhanced by the aloe vera modification and presence of Ag nanoparticle on chitosan nanoparticle.
