Zusammenfassung: | Cordierite is known to display very low thermal expansions as an attribute of excellent thermal shock resisting material when it is subjected to rapid and severe changes in temperatures. In this research, cordierite was produced using oxide based (MgO, SiO2 and Al2O3) and mineral based (Kaolin, silica and alumina) raw materials through glass route method. A mixture of raw material was gone through melting at 1540-1580 °C followed by water quenching. Then the glass produced was crushed and milled. The powder produced was pressed into the pellet and sintered at 980°C. The sintered pellet and the powder were then characterized using X-ray diffracion. |
