Zusammenfassung: | Whereas for "adult" autobiography (and still more for the clearly distinct, more objective form of Memoirs), prose is unquestionably the proper medium, poetry may well be better suited to the re-creation, or re-evocation, of that strange, alien and buffling reality, the elusive truth of the child-Self. The "magic" of childhood-recreated is a term that can be analysed, resolved into its recurrent and positive components: a sense of colour and, more especially, of luminosity; an awareness of plenitude [la cursiva es del autor], of the abundant fullness of the world and of the universe, a sense of the nearness of things, of instinctual "being with" the surrounding world, of "being immersed in It-ness"; a feeling of being outside time, or at least in a context of time which operates differently, and finally, of being nearer to the roots and grasses and further from the treetops, so that the whole word was strange and new and wonderful and different. Pero como escribe Kirkpatrick, "If feeling was a feminine speciality, if the loving and restorative spirit of the home was identical with the female psyque, the women surely had something to say in the forging of a language to represent the full range of subjectivity experience" (Kirkpatrick Románticas 8). De hecho, como ha senalado Eagleton, la sociedad burguesa adopta valores que ella misma atribuye a la mujer como propios frente a la sociedad aristocrática del Antiguo Régimen: The barbarous values of militarism, naked dominance and male hauteur, badges of predatory public aristocracy, have been mollified by the fashionable virtues of uxoriousness, sensibility, civility and tendresse. |
