The Role of Traditional Japanese Instruments in Three Recent Operas

The role of traditional Japanese instruments in "An Actor's Revenge," "Joruri" and "The Eurasian Trilogy" is examined. In most cases, it is impossible to take music conceived for Western instruments and transfer it to Japanese instruments.
