Zusammenfassung:This article is concerned with the application of regenerative burners systems in batch-operated furnaces for forging shops. The use of regenerative burner heating systems in continuously operated plants of the metal industry is well known and has been tested in practice over the years. Due to the enormous energy savings with correspondingly large power requirements by continuous mode, these systems are used very successfully. In a batch operation, especially in the forging shops, this system was rather uneconomical due to the discontinuous use and the cost situation. Because of the combination of the burner, regenerator, and control system, a unique solution has been developed that, in respect of rising energy prices and the demand for cumulated emission reduction, allows the effective use in batch operation as well. Due to the successful implementation of the regenerative burners with their own special control system by ANDRITZ Maerz, both could be tested in practice very comprehensively over the past years. The significant further development made the application of this heating system possible in leading forging shops worldwide.
