Zusammenfassung: | In a search for the meaning of justice and fairness, especially as it relates to the workplace, 2 questions persist - What is justice or fairness? What are the effects of fairness in the organization? Nine specific elements of the concept of fairness are identified: 1. trust, 2. consistency, 3. truthfulness, 4. integrity, 5. expectations, 6. equity, 7. influence, 8. justice, and 9. respect. A questionnaire containing 5 items for each of the 9 dimensions of fairness was filled out by retail store managers, department managers, and nonsupervisory employees in 10 stores. Self-reports of the 5 high-cost store managers were compared with the self-reports of the 5 low-cost store managers. All managers saw their behavior in a positive light. A comparison of high-cost and low-cost store department managers showed that scores in low-cost stores were better on all 10 scales. |
