[...]the treatment of this material is uneven at best; the rationale for organizing the essays (chronologically and geographically) is hard to make out within the three parts: "Tracing the European and American Links," "Africa confronts German Imperialism," "African Americans, Afro-Germans, and Germany: From World Wars to Reunification." [...]I would like to draw attention to three essays elaborating on Germany as a colonial power.
