Zusammenfassung:The article addresses the changes and challenges of a transforming labor market. The initial focus is on new types of employment, going beyond the standard employment relationship. Subsequent to a specification of precarious work, an overview of the current research evidence regarding the association between precarious work and health is given. Main results of a questionnaire survey among female cleaners addressing the consequences of job insecurity on health are described. Concluding the results and recommendations of a European expert group supported by DG Employment of the EU Commission are presented, which deals with the impact of organizational restructuring on health and approaches to limit its health impact through health promotion (HIRES project).
