Zusammenfassung: | The geological excursion organized in the framework of IGCP projects 521 and 481 to the reference Karangatian stratotype sections in Tuzla (Taman Peninsula) and Eltingen (Kerch Peninsula) (gure) was accompanied by a debate about their structure and correlation. The available extensive data on these sections collected by many researchers, N.A. Andrusov included, and original material allow these aspects to be substantially clarified. The Tuzla section is located on the eastern coast of the Kerch Peninsula at the beginning of the Tuzla barrier spit. Andrusov, who was first to describe this morphological structure, noted outcrops of post-Tertiary coquina and micaceous sands at the base of the spit overlain by loess-like clay. |
