Performance Review: "Cymbeline" by William Shakespeare

Reviews Andrei Serban's production of Shakespeare's "Cymbeline" at the New York Shakespeare Festival, 9 August, 1998, at the Delacorte Theatre. Examines the director and cast's challenge to tell the convoluted story of "deceit, murder, abandonment, and cross-dressing" as they employ a multitude of revelations to tie together three different plots. Remarks that Serban's penchant toward the operatic worked well for this play; "however, even Serban's magic with the actors, set, and text could not weave together the disparate elements that make up the tangled web of 'Cymbeline.'"
