Interview with Kevin L. Unger, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Poudre Valley Hospital

In an interview, Poudre Valley Hospital president and CEO Kevin L. Unger, FACHE, talked about his career. On how his experience at Poudre Valley Health System prepared him to lead Poudre Valley Hospital, he said he was hired into the system in a strategic planning and marketing role, which gave him an overall perspective of the organization and its immediate and future goals. His next role as the VP of operations taught him the nuts and bolts of running a hospital on a daily basis. These two positions served as a good foundation for his current role. On his management style, he gets a lot of energy from visiting the floors, interacting with the staff, and eating in the physician's lounge and the cafeterias. By being visible, he communicates that he is approachable and he wants to know what is happening throughout the organization.
