Zusammenfassung:Naydan discusses fifty years of Ukrainian studies in the Slavic and East European Journal. While Russian experts have dominated AATSEEL in terms of membership and publication in SEEJ, AATSEEL to its credit has been much more open and true to the concept of "druzhba narodov," the friendship of nations, than was the USSR, which created the euphemistic term to describe its coerced conglomerate of peoples within its borders.
