Zusammenfassung:The characteristics of students portrayed in the book do not reflect a school reality, such as the English language proficiency of their peers in class. The possibility for teachers to infuse critical literacy into school curriculum and students' experiences with critical literacy practices (as shown in the above examples) serve as a condition for critical literacy practices in classrooms. Through the discussion, her students learned the value of money not just as a math concept, but also as a social concept whose effect on individuals varied depending on socioeconomic status.
