Zusammenfassung:Global consciousness is a phrase that means at least 2 kinds of things, namely: 1. functionally adequate awareness of the ecology in which people live as a whole system of physical and non-physical interactions across time, and 2. the ability to expand one's consciousness beyond the confines of an egocentric sense of self to include transpersonal experiences and/or transcendent self-identity as well. The technology-fueled behaviors that are driving the exponential increase in the ecological load are led by the general unwillingness of leaders at all levels to recognize and respond constructively to the threat of overshooting the planet's carrying capacity for ecological load within the time horizon of the proverbial 7 generations.
