Zusammenfassung:As it is aligned with the “Bowling Green approach” founded by Ray and Pat Browne, popular culture studies no longer needs its defensive posture formed during the culture wars. It now has fifty years of established institutional history, preserved in its international, national, and regional organizations; its archives; and its publishing arm. Rather, as A Companion to Popular Culture suggests in its many fine essays, we can now assert our intellectual prowess in a collective endeavor to promote and deepen the study of popular culture and the humanities at large.
