Zusammenfassung: | The purpose of this study is to determine what, if any, changes have taken place in the driver recruitment arena since the initial investigations of 1988-1989. To accomplish this, a questionnaire was sent to the person most directly responsible for driver recruitment in the 517 firms listed in the Traffic Management directory of Motor Carrier Services. The greatest change in the recruitment process appears to be in the methods used to reach potential drivers. The increase in the use of more professional sources of employment information such as trade and professional publications may indicate that drivers are gaining an image as trained professional service providers. In general, the results of this study indicate that the image of the driver may be in a period of transition. |
