FOLK SPEECH IN SOUTHWESTERN ARKANSAS

Folk expressions, proverbial phrases and similar forms of speech can spice up daily conversation. General semanticists may prefer precise language but they welcome these expressions because these enhance the English language and are often humorous and entertaining. Southwest Arkansas has its share of such folk speeches and these are usually uttered by its senior citizens. These colorful expressions may someday fade into oblivion but semanticists hope that other equally whimsical forms of speech will replace them.
