Zusammenfassung:Nowadays, studies relating Critical Literacy (CL) to English Language Teaching (ELT) in regular schools have become more and more frequent in the field of Applied Linguistics. Such studies have shown how theories regarding CL focus on providing students with opportunities for autonomy, social engagement and citizenship in English classes at regular schools. Considering Bill 6954 from 2013 – or “Bill Romário” –, which requests the study of the Federal Constitution (FC) in local classrooms around the country, this paper aims at proposing activities based on CL theories which involve the study of the FC in English classes at regular schools. Three activities based on CL aimed at high school students will be proposed, using the FC as their background. We hope that the present study will contribute significantly to foster reflections on possibilities for the study of the FC within the context of basic education in Brazil in a global way.
