Zusammenfassung: | Research was conducted into the structural changes that have been taking place in all of the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) countries from 1960 to 1984. The research reveals that: 1. during the period under consideration, agriculture followed a trend consistent with expectations based on the conventional thesis of progressive decline and stagnation at a low level, 2. industry followed a more complex trend, with deindustrialization and reindustrialization coexisting side by side, and 3. the dominant feature of services was constant advance. It was concluded that, from 1960 to 1984, OECD member countries followed a trend that, in principle, was in agreement with the most conventional theories on structural change, even though tertiarization and deindustrialization were clearly mingled. |
