Zusammenfassung:Agricultural sciences include an alternative source of fresh produce, improved life satisfaction and a way to preserve cultural identity and traditions. This research study seeks to investigate the perception of Grade 12 learners on the effects of urban agriculture on poverty eradication and food security. The study adopts a descriptive survey design. A validated structured questionnaire whose reliability co-efficient is 0.81 was used to collect information. Seventy-eight (78) Grade 12 learners were randomly selected. The study reveals among others that food security and poverty eradication have positive effects on life satisfaction of the respondents. The study recommends that the South Africa Government should make agriculture education as a compulsory subject for grade 10 and 11 learners in rural areas. The study concludes that urban agriculture will help them in building job skills, improving self-esteem and contributing to community revitalization.
