Telling Stories: Making Sense of the Environmental Behavior of Chemical Firms

Storytelling is one way that individuals and groups make sense of phenomena in their environment, and this cognitive sense making occurs in organizations as respondents offer their personal explanations regarding organizational behavior and their understanding of the reasoning behind these behaviors. The storytelling literature offers a framework for understanding these often perplexing behaviors. This research explores these important questions about corporate behavior and identifies core elements that assist in the transition from BAU practices to SB practices.
