Zusammenfassung:Students in Texas school district could be retained that year for failure to pass the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS). According to Texas state law and the Texas Education Agency, every Texas third grader in 2002-2003 must submit to the new law that requires all third graders to pass the new Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in reading to be promoted to the fourth grade (Texas Education Agency, 2002).
