Zusammenfassung: | Until recently gender as a social category has been neglected in theories of international relations and women have largely been kept invisible. The article makes a contribution to end this scientific exclusion. Starting from some theoretical considerations it analyses the dynamic interaction of gender policy and international policy arguing that gender plays a central role in the continuous Great Game over Afghanistan. Besides discussing the determinants of the Taliban's gender and foreign policy, it highlights the gender-dimension of US foreign policy towards the Taliban as well as the way, in which conflicting transnational gender-discourses have influenced gender-policy in Afghanistan historically and at present. |
