Synthesis of 5-Aryl-4-acyl-3-hydroxy-1-(2-furylmethyl)-3-pyrrolin-2-ones

Reaction of methyl acylpyruvate with a mixture of aromatic aldehyde and furfurylamine yielded 5-aryl-4-acetyl(benzoyl)-3-hydroxy-1-(2-furylmethyl)-3-pyrrolin-2-ones, the structure of which was established by 1 H, 13 C NMR and IR spectroscopy methods.
