Nickel and Copper‐Catalyzed Carbonylation Reaction of Organoboranes

Carbonylation of arylboronic acid derivatives employing Cr(CO)6 as the carbonyl source and NiCl2(dmg)/4,4′‐bipy as the catalyst under air without applying external oxidant has been reported for the amide and ester synthesis (dmg=dimethylgloxime; bipy=bipyridine). Zusammenfassung:Carbonylation of arylboronic acid derivatives employing Cr(CO)6 as the carbonyl source and NiCl2(dmg)/4,4′‐bipy as the catalyst under air without applying external oxidant has been reported for the amide and ester synthesis (dmg=dimethylgloxime; bipy=bipyridine). Moreover, CHCl3 was also used as another carbonyl source for the amide synthesis with CuI/1,10‐phenanthroline catalytic system. Two ways to one destination: Novel and mild reaction conditions for a carbonylation of organoboranes have been reported in the presence of a cheap and easily prepared Ni catalyst using Cr(CO)6 as the carbonyl source. Astonishingly, CuI was also found to be an appropriate catalytic source for the amide synthesis but using CHCl3 as the carbonyl source.
