Zusammenfassung: | A Cross-Sectional Study To Assess Anxiety And Depression In Parents Of Children With Intellectual Disability Abhipsa Das, Prakhar Jain, Vinayak Pandhurang Kale Junior resident(Second Year), Grant govt.medical college and sir JJ group of hospitals, Mumbai, Maharashtra. abhipsadas3@gmail.com Introduction: Intellectual disability(ID) is a disability with limitations in intellectual functioning,adaptive behavior,social and practical skills.Their families experience repeated physical and emotional crises,also financial burden.India has a prevalence of 10.5/1000 in ID.Studies have shown association between parental distress and caretaking of children with ID but there is little data in developing countries concerning the impact of raising them.This study was conducted to assess the level of anxiety,depression or both anxiety and depression together among such parents. [...]adequate awareness regarding the illness and liaison consultation facilities go a long way in reducing the morbidity. Conclusion: Significant psychological distress was found in those wives whose husbands had history of higher quantity of alcohol consumption, those who faced abusive behaviour from husband & those having shorter duration of marriage and lower age.
