Zusammenfassung: | A study conducted by professor Niel Carr aiming to highlight the increasingly central role that pet dogs play in the lives of people and the implications for the tourism industry, as well as identifies a dearth of analysis of the position of the pet dog in tourism. Carr suggest that the dog may be viewed like the human `other' as being different from humans, but that if humans are prepared to listen, with all its senses, an understanding, no matter how imperfect, may be developed, and if dogs are recognise as sentient animals, the need also to recognise them as creatures with welfare needs and rights is a must. |
