Zusammenfassung: | Nanoparticles of MoS2 and WS2 with closed‐cage structure have been synthesized in the past in substantial amounts and their properties widely studied. Their superior tribological properties led to their large‐scale commercial application as solid lubricants in numerous products and technologies. Doping of these nanoparticles, i.e. adding small amounts of impurities, can be used to tune their physical properties offering thereby new applications. Furthermore, different studies offered them important potential applications in various medical technologies. In article No. 1700165, Reshef Tenne and co‐workers demonstrate a niobium (Nb) doping of the nanoparticles via a sophisticated new gas‐phase synthesis. The doping level of the Nb dopant atoms was controlled to an unprecedented low level (≤0.1 at%), which permitted controlling and tuning of their electrical properties. |
