Zusammenfassung: | From a climatological and air hygienical point of view, the city differs greatly from the countryside: the impairment through heat and harmful substances in the air is higher in the city, for instance, green spaces, on the other hand, are rarer than in the countryside. The question arises whether – and in which way – the progressing climate change is changing the urban climate additionally: will the impairments for the urban residents (heat, air quality, heavy rainfall) increase further? And which role does urban nature or the urban greenery play when it comes to reducing these negative impacts – that means in the adaptation to climate change? Following the description of the current state of knowledge and research, this article presents the climate adaptation strategy of the city of Jena (JenKAS) and the concept for urban trees "City and Street Trees in Climate Change" of Jena. |
