*Full introduction is in Spanish This special issue of Regions & Cohesion offers the reader a contemporary Latin American analysis on civic education and political participation of communities and sectors of the population that remain excluded from political and public life in South America and emerge in recent democratic openness and globalization contexts. The contributions examine the civic configuration processes with regard to, or expressed in different forms of, political participation.
