Early modern plays are so full of 'drum, trumpet' and the sound of a sword striking a 'target' that no editor would look for specific plays to which Morose might be alluding. The noise of 'fights at sea', however, is another matter--since plays of the period containing such sequences are relatively rare, there has been some speculation regarding the play or plays Jonson may be parodying.
