Political language in the 19th century: Letters, flyers, verses and rumors in the north of the Portuguese America

The text discusses the influence of verbal and written messages spread in Pernambuco in the early nineteenth century, especially before and during the 1817 movement, spreading revolutionary ideas. Given the emergence of a new political sociability, new ideas were spread, affecting not only the educated elite, but the people, since, as they were informed of novelties, they commented and construed them as they pleased, generating tumults.
