Family Theory and Research in Singapore

This account of the development of family research and theory in Singapore identifies the salience of the research setting as an important influence on the research that is done; deals with the historical background of family studies; focusses on the period of consolidation from 1965 to 1979; discusses the major changes in direction and emphasis in family research in Singapore; and predicts future trends for research on family in Singapore. The rapid eco- nomic development of Singapore and the ethnic and cultural com- position of its population have caught the attention of the wider com- munity of family researchers.
