2
content and 1873 K (1600 °C) reaction temperature. Increasing CaF
2
content above 5 pct yielded little or no further increase in Mn recovery, because it was accompanied by increased slag viscosity owing to the precipitation of high melting point compounds such as Ba
2
SiO
4
